The length of your tops and jackets is super important. It can easily make your body shape unbalanced which can make you look bigger.
The lengths of tops and jackets are easily noticed because their hemlines often create contrast with the colour that you are wearing on the bottom (unless you are wearing a monochromatic outfit). Hemlines create horizontal influences, making you appear shorter and/or wider if they are not placed at the right position.
You might have noticed that some girls have long legs and short torsos, some have long torsos and short legs, and still, others are just balanced.
If you have short legs and a long torso, you will look better in tops or jackets that sit above the hip line. Longer lengths will create the illusion of an even longer torso.
If you have long legs and a short torso, avoid cropped tops and jackets, as they will only make your torso look even shorter (because they will create a horizontal influence).
Also, if you have a wide waist avoid hemlines that sit right on your waist.
Longer hemlines that reach your fingertips or lower will look better on tall or very thin girls. If you are on the shorter side like me ;) stick to knuckle length as your longest length.
Jackets that are knuckle length look great on everyone. It's a happy length for all of us!
If you have wide hips, make sure your top and jacket hemlines don’t sit at the widest part of your hips, which will just over emphasise them. If you have an inverted triangle shape, on the other hand, make sure your hemlines do hit the widest part of your hips.
Use long-over-short and short- over-long when combining jackets with skirts or dresses. That is, wear short jackets with long skirts and long jackets with short skirts.
Every woman I have talked to would like to know how to look taller or slimmer or have more skin here or less there. Including me... but that my gorgeous is the biggest waste of energy!
I want you to know that you are truly perfect the way you are and your focus should be on embracing and learning how to enhance the best parts of your body. And yes also learning about how to minimise others.
Understanding what works for your body shape will make a world of difference to your shopping experience in creating a wardrobe you will love. This will have you feeling full of confidence when you leave the house in the morning. Not to mention the amount of time and money you will start saving!
