Last September I was in Paris for work. This time was extra special to me as I was taking my mum on her first ever trip to Europe. First France, then Italy- and the Vatican! Her dream come true. But that is a story for another day ;)
April to August were actually a big blur for me. With the wedding, honeymoon and readjusting to my new life, I did very little work which was reflected in my low income for those months.
So by the time I got to France and knowing I was going to have 2 weeks of holidays after my training, I was feeling VERY guilty. How can you be doing all these things and spending all this money when you have produced mush... kept playing in the back of my mind.
One day, I found myself in the Roberto Cavalli shop. Immediately this gorgeous ring caught my eye. It was turquoise, my favourite colour. I was in love!!!
I am not one for spending a lot of money on only one piece and remember I wasn't exactly making lots of money at the time, so it felt like completely overindulgent buying.
I was with a friend so we kept looking at clothes, then the shop assistant said why don't you try it on. Anyway, long story short I ended up buying it. It was absolutely ME and in reality, it was very well priced.
I wore it one day, and OMG the guilt!!! It kept looking at me and I couldn't stop thinking, you don't deserve it.
Finally, when leaving Italy to come back home I had my ring in hand and my invoice to claim my duty. I literally had to walk through all the terminals to find the office.
I finally put my ring in my hand luggage and off I went on my long flight ...
I arrived home exhausted took a nap during the middle of the day, then started unpacking.
The next day I had this horrific thought, where is my ring?
Frantically I went through my empty suitcases, my handbag and all of my accessories.. The ring was nowhere to be found. I called the airline, the airport, the taxi company, but no sign of my ring anywhere.
Side note here: I don't lose things, I don't forget things easily. Especially if they are important to me.
Then it hit me! OMG Alba! you managed to lose the ring because you felt you didn't deserve it... Tears...
How silly was I??? I was in total disbelief... but then I thought, what a great lesson.
A few days passed and I kept reflecting on what had just happened. I was SO sad. So disappointed in myself...
Then, I started journaling and found the gift in this experience. I Had to forgive myself and instead start feeling deserving. Because I really did deserve that ring!!
In January something came to me and I started googling the ring. It was sooo pretty... And to my surprise, I found it was on Sale, a huge sale. Like a third of the original price. But they only offer delivery to the UK.
I remembered I had few friends there, checked with them and in few days my ring was on my way to me <3
And yes, this is me the day the ring arrived. Feeling more deserving than ever. I put it on and it just felt right.
An amazing couple of thing happened with my business that week. And I know it was all because I declared to the universe that I am deserving and that all good things can always come to me. That my life can get better and better and that I can have it all!
