The length of your tops and jackets can easily balance your vertical proportions (meaning the balance between your torso and your legs). The lengths of tops and jackets are easily noticed because their hemlines often create contrast with the colour that you wear on the bottom.
I never thought women could be so 'worried' about our arms. In the last few weeks I have been asked many times about the best sleeves to 'cover' your arms. I have to include myself here, as my wedding fast approaches and I am wearing a strapless dress, all I can think about is how to make my arms look better ;)
On the Outfit of the Week this week I am sharing with you my 4 MUST HAVE Items to have in your Capsule wardrobe for work.
To look the part you do NOT need to wear only black or white, or gray. That is when your wardrobe starts making you feel plain and you will most likely feel bored with it. I do think that with your basics you can have white, black, grey and beige, but if you are always wearing these colours you will not be seen as a leader.
One of the comments I hear a lot from professional women is how difficult is to be themselves while looking professional and industry appropriate. One of the parts of my business I enjoy the most is helping women stay true to who they are while still creating a strong and powerful image that they love.
I ask this question to a lot of women: How many times do you leave your house in the morning loving what you see in the mirror, feeling confident and on top of the world?
Then I see embarrassed faces, surprised faces, wondering faces... women asking themselves when was the last time I actually felt that way?
This is my outfit for the soiree. I have had this dress for a while. When the Luau theme was selected I got excited as I already had the perfect dress for it. I am not that big on flowers so it was good to have one that worked for the party.
If you have been following me for a while you already know how much I LOVE accessories! <3
The reason I love them so much is because they can really help to finish an outfit. They take an outfit from good to great in seconds. And they are great to dress up or down outfits. The most common comment I hear women making is I do like accessories but I don't know how to use them.
Today, the OOTW has a twist! I have a video for you as well as some photos. Are you a woman who wears a lot of black?
Do you wear black because it is easy or because you think it will make you look slimmer? Watch the video below to hear what I have to say about wearing a lot of black. Then check out the pictures below with some ideas on how to incorporate a bit more colour in your wardrobe ;)
You either love or really dislike white pants ;) I actually like them. However, they are not the most flattering style for my pear shaped body.
My hips are wider than my torso and white enhances the area it is placed on. So I don't exactly like overemphasizing what is already big ;) When I wear white pants, I make sure I create a focal point close to my face, like a statement necklace to balance the enhancing influence on the hips.
Today we are talking Jackets! I love jackets. I haven't worn them as much lately as I do not need to look as credible. Let me explain that. Jackets, especially ones that are sem-fiitted and structured create a more credible look. I am not talking black suit and white shirt type of credible. Or at least not for me as that is not my style personality.
It's my own interpretation of jackets.
I still remember clearly the day I went to my first job interview. I was 20 years old and it was for my work experience semester as an engineer. The company was out of the city, my dad drove me there so I didn't get lost- embarrassed! This was way before GPS existed or at least in my life.
There was a point in my life not that long ago... when I could not find anything to like about me. All I could see was my flaws, the mistakes I made, the newly developed muffin top that now accompanied me and how much I disliked my job.
Believe me, I get it. You wake up in the morning, go to your wardrobe, open it and within a few minutes you are feeling a bit (or a lot) frustrated because you don't have anything to wear- or at least nothing you love. You walk to the mirror and all you can see is what a bad hair day you are having or you can't help but notice the few kilos you have put on lately.
Last Saturday I was going to meet with some friends I met the very first time I went to Bali. It was a retreat for women.... that trip changed my life! I did a video on my WOW NOW Revolution group to share what I was feeling that morning. I got so many emails from women thanking me for sharing this message that I decided to share it with all of you today.
When I first met my gorgeous client Kate, I remember thinking what a beautiful woman. We spoke a few times on the phone and I could hear that fierceness in her voice. However, the impression she created in person was of a very shy woman. On our conversations, when I asked her about her goals, she mentioned to me how she wanted to move forward in her career as a Marketing manager. She wanted to be seen as confident, knowledgeable, intelligent engaging and credible. She wanted to be able to speak with confidence and stop second guessing herself and holding back for fear of appearing silly.
If you joined me for the Challenge last week, you will know my usual feelings on flowers... I am generally a much more a dramatic dresser: bold and bright colours with statement accessories. A dress with flowers is not exactly me. However there is this part of me that totally conflicts with my drama and comes out here and there: a more feminine and flowery version of me.
Dresses are one of my favourite and most worn items in my wardrobe! They are such an easy option, especially during summer. But even during winter I just put on a pair of leggings and a pair of boots and I am ready!
Growing up I struggled with very low self-confidence and self-image. I was made fun of at school because of my funny looks. I was full of fears and felt I didn't fit into society.
I was 15 years old when I discovered an amazing tool that helped me with my self-confidence: Clothes and make-up! It was as if once I put on my make-up and picked a great outfit, I was instantly more confident.
Today I am replying to Sherry Leeann's question: How to wear 7/8 trousers in a business environment and still look corporate/ businesslike ?
I often hear from women who think I am always outgoing and high energy. That I jump out of bed with a made up face and beaming smile. But this is not the case, just like everyone else I have days when I feel flat.
